Opuntia ficus-indica (L.) Mill.
This cactus originates from central Mexico and is widely cultivated and used in the agricultural sector. The prickly pear appears in the coat of arms of Mexico which appears on the flag of Mexico. It is also the official plant of Texas.
But in the natural environment, it also occurs, but it differs little from the cultural one. This is a very large plant, up to 3-5 m tall, with very beautiful flowers and edible fruits.
